There was a good Portchester club entry into the Rengokai Autumn Competition on Saturday 18th November 2017.

The event was hosted at the Portchester Dojo as the Community school is fairly central in location.

The above picture is of the team Kata competitors.

The event started with team Kata and so that allowed those only in the individuals to come along after lunch.

The typical competition is the "knock out system" in which half the contestants are eliminated in the first round.. However the Rengokai competitions are run on a "round robin" basis, in which each competitor has 2, 3 or 4 matches against differant opponents. At an appropriate stage the finalists are chosen and these compete in the usual manner.

The object is to give the contestants as much experience as possible.
